New Launch: WOLCK 1U 16 Port EDFA

Shenzhen WOLCK releases the new 1U 16 port EDFA optical amplifier, model VTA-EY16XXD, available in 20dBm and 23dBm versions. For headend engineers the news is simple: the proven 2U 16 port EDFA now fits a single 1U slot, with no loss of amplification capacity, functions or features.

The chassis measures 425 x 482 x 44 mm and weighs 4.3 kg net, where the 2U body took twice the vertical space. One rack unit instead of two doubles port density in the same cabinet, reduces rail load, and packs into a smaller carton of 54 x 52 x 13 cm at 7 kg gross, cutting air freight and express cost on every shipment - a real saving on multi-site FTTH and HFC rollouts.

Performance carries over unchanged: 16 output ports, 1540-1565 nm amplification, and the signal quality the 2U version is known for.

Inside, a built-in 1310/1490/1550nm WDM supports the wavelengths used in PON and CATV overlay networks. Output adjusts from 0 to 5dBm by front panel buttons or the web page, and one-step 6dBm attenuation allows fiber hot-plugging without powering the unit down. Laser lock keys, RJ45 monitoring, USB firmware upgrade, six cooling fans and dual 110V/220V AC power round out daily operation. Power consumption stays at 50W or below, working temperature is 0-55 degrees C, and connector options include FC/APC, SC/APC and LC/UPC.

Typical deployments: high density CATV and HFC headends, FTTH and triple-play networks, PON plus CATV over WDM links, hotel IPTV, campus and community networks, ISP backbone extension and enterprise private networks.
